DC vs. Heller update

From ScotusWiki:
"The case of District of Columbia v. Heller is about a handgun, a pistol, that Dick Anthony Heller would like to keep in his home in Washington, D.C. He tried to register it with the city, but was turned down — the city has banned the registration, and thus the possession, of all privately owned handguns. Heller argues that he has a Second Amendment right to have the gun in his home for self-defense; he says he lives in a high-crime neighborhood. Heller, so far, is winning..........The D.C. Circuit Court, dividing 2-1, ruled last March 9 that Dick Heller has a Second Amendment right — an individual, personal right — to have that gun, and to keep it at home, loaded and unlocked."

Dick Anthony Heller, you are my hero!!!

I believe opening arguments start next month.

This is a case all gun owners should keep an eye on. I know that I'll be watching it closely.

The DC vs. Heller case has the potential to strike a substantial blow to the forces that subvert our most important right. After all, without the second amendment, there wouldn't be any amendments.

In 1982, the US Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution wrote a detailed and important report on the history and interpretation of the second amendment. The link to this report is here:

There is a TREMENDOUS amount to be learned from this (lengthy) report. For example, The Militia Act of 1792 DEFINED the militia of the United States to include all able bodied adult males in the United States! Furthermore from 1792 into the 1900's it was a federal mandate that all members of the militia (i.e. nearly all American males) were required to keep and maintain a working firearm with sufficient ammunition.

Can you imagine trying to enforce this law with the typical, Starbucks-swallowing, castrated, adult 'males' that comprise a large portion of our American society today!?? I guess there are those of us who will have to carry the load for the rest.
