DC rejects Dick Heller's Handgun Application

From WUSA9.com, DC rejects handgun application: "Dick Heller is the man who brought the lawsuit against the District's 32-year-old ban on handguns. He was among the first in line Thursday morning to apply for a handgun permit."

Check out WHY his application was denied.

"But when he tried to register his semi-automatic weapon, he says he was rejected. He says his gun has (a) seven bullet clip. Heller says the City Council legislation allows weapons with fewer than eleven bullets in the clip. A spokesman for the DC Police says the gun was a bottom-loading weapon, and according to their interpretation, all bottom-loading guns are outlawed because they are grouped with machine guns."

How dumb. I didn't realize that I had 3 machine guns in my home. All of my three semi-autos LOAD FROM THE BOTTOM.

Let's take a page out of Benjamin9's book and go to Webster's dictionary to get the accepted definition of "machine gun." "Machine gun: a gun for sustained rapid fire that uses bullets; broadly : an automatic weapon."

Hmmmm, semi-automatic weapons can neither be fired in a "sustained rapid manner" nor are these weapons "automatic" (hence the name, SEMI-automatic, you big stupid D.C. morons!). If semi-automatic handguns are machine guns then could somebody please explain to me why in the hell only one bullet comes out when I pull the trigger?!?!

I bet that like my SEMI-automatic weapons, Dick Heller's SEMI-automatic handgun can not shoot in a sustained, rapid fire manner nor is it an "automatic" weapon. But according to a bunch of illogical idiotic morons in D.C. all of the weapons mentioned above are machine guns.

Anti-gunners will even twist the English language in order to get rid of "evil" firearms.

The Court, splitting 5-4, struck down a District of Columbia ban on handgun possession. Justice Antonin Scalia’s opinion for the majority stressed that the Court was not casting doubt on long-standing bans on gun possession by felons or the mentally retarded, or laws barring guns from schools or government buildings, or laws putting conditions on gun sales.

In District of Columbia v. Heller (07-290), the Court nullified two provisions of the city of Washington’s strict 1976 gun control law: a flat ban on possessing a gun in one’s home, and a requirement that any gun — except one kept at a business — must be unloaded and disassembled or have a trigger lock in place. The Court said it was not passing on a part of the law requiring that guns be licensed."

There has been little activity since the oral arguments were presented to the SCOTUS in the DC vs. Heller 2nd amendment case.

Right now it looks as if a ruling will be made sometime in late June.

Does it make it unreasonable to say "no hand guns here?" I say yes, since the handgun ban is one of the reasons why crime is so high in D.C.

Of course, a bunch of commies decided to show up and protested the individual's right to protect oneself and property with a handgun. These are often the same people who argue that we have the right to kill our unborn children but we don't have the right to own a gun.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence made an appearance and chanted "guns kill." While their goal of preventing killing is a good and noble one, guns don't kill because people have to pull the triggers. People kill. If they want to ban guns then I guess we need to ban cars, knives (stabbings), baseball bats (beatings), feet (you might be kicked to death), electricity (including lightning), physicians (even physicians make mistakes), pools (kids are much more likely to drown in a pool than be shot by a gun in the home), rope (people might be strangled) and buildings taller than 1 story (one might jump or be pushed). And , of course, if we ban guns I know that the criminals will be sure to turn their weapons in and play nice. Then we could all get into a hippie circle and sing Kumbaya!

The Supreme Court of the United States is scheduled to begin hearing the District of Columbia v. Heller case on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. This case could be pivotal in the continuing battle over the second amendment which has pitted freedom loving gun owners (the good guys) against anti-gun commie pinkos (the bad guys).

A number of briefs, in defense of Dick Anthony Heller, have been filed in the DC vs. Heller Second Amendment Supreme court case. Dick Anthony Heller was denied the right to own a gun in the nation's capital because of DC's ridiculous gun bans.

This is a case all gun owners should keep an eye on. I know that I'll be watching it closely.

DC vs. Heller

Over the last few days I have been reading up on the upcoming DC vs. Heller case. In this case, the SCOTUS will decide whether a Washington, D.C. ban on handgun ownership violates the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

One pro-gun group, of which I am a member (Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership), sent an email to their members with some very relevant information for us gun owners. To summarize their analysis, using text from their email:

"1) The Second Amendment protects your unalienable right to
self-defense and freedom from violent harm;

2) What part of "shall not be infringed" do the victim disarmers fail
to understand?

3) "Well regulated" means well-trained and disciplined, not limited
or controlled by government;

4) Your First Amendment rights, and all others, are protected by the
Second;

5) Government can only earn legitimate authority by upholding rights
and ensuring justice;

6) Before any government becomes a full-blown tyranny, it must first
disarm the people."

At the bottom of the email is the following message with a link to a much more in-depth analysis:
